Sail Windjammer purchased the S/V Mandalay on January 18th, 2012, and brought her from Panama back home to St. Georges, Grenada, West Indies. The voyage back was followed on the internet by Windjammer fans everywhere. She has been lovingly restored and many say she is more beautiful than she ever was. The S/V Mandalay celebrated her inaugural sail under Windjammer Sailing Adventures in July of 2012. Staff from Tropical Sails went aboard right away!

The S/V Mandalay turned 90 this year! This 236 ft. sailing ship is the former luxury yacht of financier E.F. Hutton and shipping magnate George Vettleson. Built in 1923, she was christened “Hussar”. In 1953, as “Vema” she was used for oceanographic research by Columbia University. In her 90 years she has seen many oceans.

The S/V Mandalay was so expertly built and has been so well maintained, that you can be a part of her history too. We invite you to come aboard and experience the magic for yourself. The engines look shiny new and the cabins have all been updated including climate control!

Discover Caribbean Islands that conventional cruise ships just can’t bring you to. Experience secluded beaches, swim with the sea turtles and let the warmth of the Caribbean waters soothe your soul. The Mandalay sails weekly out of her homeport in Grenada. Our itinerary is ever changing, visiting islands such as Bequia, Mayreau, Tobago Cays, Union Island, Carricacou and more.

Tropical Sails Corp is pleased to tell you that the Windjammer culture is alive and well with the return of sticky bun, rum Swizzles, crab races, story time, deck parties, knot tying, sailing and star gazing classes, sleeping on deck, games, the playing of Amazing Grace while raising the sails and much more!

I’m looking for a total solar eclipse cruise for July 2, 2019. Do you have one
from Chile? Other cruise lines do but they are sold out.
